This gag comedy is coming to screens in 2023.

The official website for the Dekoboko Majo No Oyako Jijō (The Family Circumstances of the Imbalanced Witch) anime revealed that the series will be making its way to screens this year. Along with the confirmation of the release date, the website also announced two main cast members and revealed a new visual.

Nana Mizuki will voice Viola and Aoi Koga will voice Alissa (Alyssa) in Dekoboko Majo No Oyako Jijō’s premiere season this year. The series is a gag comedy based on Piroya’s manga of the same name, and centers around a witch, Alissa, who lives alone in a forest. One day, Alissa comes across a human child and decides to take in her, naming her Viola. Alissa technically raised Viola for 16 years, but as we all know, sometimes the parent can be very child-like. It’s not always clear who the parent is in this parent-and-child relationship comedy.

The teaser visual that was released on Wednesday showcases the anime’s two main characters, Alissa and Viola. However, this visual is a teaser in the literal sense since nothing else has been revealed about the anime. Additional information such as staff member announcements, the release month, and a trailer have yet to be released. There’s also no information on which networks will be airing the anime in Japan, and which streaming service or services will stream the series for the global audience.

The manga written and illustrated by Piroya was originally a one-shot published in July 2018 on Flex Comix’s Comic Meteor website, before it became serialized on the aforementioned website one year later. The manga’s fourth compiled volume was published by Flex Comix Inc. in September 2022. Although four volumes doesn’t seem like a lot compared to series like One Piece, Dekoboko Majo No Oyako Jijō is still going, so more volumes are sure to be released in 2023. Although no one has licensed the manga in English, the anime adaptation may change that as it picks up a global fan base.

Stay tuned as more information is revealed about the upcoming TV anime adaptation. It shouldn’t be long before a trailer is released, and staff members get announced.
