Film production and distribution company Eleven Arts has announced that they will be screening the anime film DEEMO Memorial Keys in select theaters across the U.S. starting from February 2. The film will feature both Japanese audio with English subtitles and an English dubbed version.
The LA-based company Eleven Arts obtained the distribution license for the anime film based on Rayark Games’ Deemo game. The film hit the Japanese theater last year on February 25, released in Thailand on March 17 and Taiwan on March 25. The U.S. screening schedule of the film is available on Eleven Arts’ website and tickets can be purchased directly on the site as well.
The film based on the smartphone rhythm game tells the tale of a girl named Alice who fell from the sky and landed on a castle inhibited by a mysterious lonely character named Deemo. Alice lost her memories, so she decided to just live with Deemo, who’s known for constantly playing the piano. Watch as the show unravels the life of the two while living in the castle with a mysterious tree that grows magically as Deemo plays the piano.
The anime film adaptation was first announced by Game developer Rayark last November 2019. It was directed by Shûhei Matsushita, who’s widely known for his work for Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone and Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance. Junichi Fujisaku and Mecachi served as executive director and character illustrator respectively. The theme song for the film was composed by Yuki Kajiura and sang by Hinano Takashima titled Nocturne.
