Death Stranding 2 on the way, according to actor Norman Reedus

Well, good work to Leo Edit, which has managed to get Norman Reedus to say he’s “just started filming the second one” with regards to Death Stranding, seemingly confirming a sequel to Hideo Kojima’s first post-Konami game. In an interview with the men’s lifestyle blog, the actor spoke about a Death Stranding 2 with the same frivolity and casual nature as he did the end of The Walking Dead and his upcoming work and restaurants.

That’s about all we know, other than you can read the interview over here if you’re interested in the man himself. He goes into some small details about the process of recording the mo-cap for the first game, then says that “the game came out, and it just won all these awards, and it was a huge thing, so we just started part two of that.”

Assuming Reedus has his timelines right – and at one point he mentioned Silent Hill, without the s, so maybe there’s some stuff slipping his mind – that would suggest at least some decent amount of work has already gone in. You don’t get an expensive actor in to do mo-cap until you’ve crossed the Is and dotted the Ts on your script, general idea, and probably worked out whatever new technology you’re going to be using.

Death Stranding has proved popular and successful since launch, including with a recent Director’s Cut release on PC, even if it didn’t quite begin a Strand Game revolution. We’d expect to potentially see more out of the game during Summer Game Fest, hosted by long-time Kojima collaborator Geoff Keighley, his Gamescom Opening Night Live show, or the year-end Game Awards.
