Death in Paradise star admits ‘I wasn’t sure I could keep up’ with cast | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Death in Paradise star Tahj Miles has played Marlon Pryce since series 10 and has quickly become an integral part of the Saint Marie police force.

In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Tahj shared his fears of working with Ralf Little, who plays lead detective Neville Parker.

When speaking about his co-stars, Tahj admitted he often watched Ralf on set, branding the actor “brilliant”.

He said: “They [Ralf, Don Warrington] have been in the industry for a very long time and have years and years of experience.

“And to be working with them every single day is a pleasure and truly a blessing.

“Not everyone has the privilege to work with people like that, let alone every single day.

“I’ll be watching them and they’ll be dropping gems. Even though I am in my third year, I am still learning.”

Tahj went on to admit he worried he “couldn’t keep up” when trying to speak in a Caribbean accent in scenes with Ralf and his other co-stars.

He shared: “I had tried in some auditions, but this was the one I was like,’ I don’t know if I’m ready to do a Caribbean accent’ on this show that’s been on for so long.

“People are used to hearing a specific accent and I wasn’t sure whether I’d be able to keep up.”

Despite his initial worries, with the help of his grandma and granddad, the Marlon Pryce star managed to nail the accent in the end.

The actor joined the cast when he was 18-years-old, and admitted it “was a shock” when he first arrived in the Caribbean.

He added: “It was the middle of 2020, so it was right in the middle of the pandemic.

“So I had been stuck inside doing nothing and the next thing I know I am in the Caribbean, 18 years old with a villa to myself.

“When I first got there it was a bit of a shock so I thought, ‘How did I end up here?'”

“I was young and it was my time filming from home for such a long time,” Tahj continued.

“So they had me there from the start just to get used to the environment. The first week and a bit it was slightly strange being away from home and it was the biggest career role I’ve had to date.”
