In order to celebrate the 14th anniversary of Dead Space, developer EA Motive has released an extended gameplay trailer for Dead Space Remake ahead of its January launch, detailing the most recognizable differences between the original game. The eight-minute gameplay trailer highlights Necromorphs, the intensify director, and improved graphics that make players’ horror experience even more immersive.

Following the release of the first trailer emphasizing the core elements of Dead Space Remake, the development team dropped yet another gameplay clip, giving players their first in-depth look at Necromorphs, visual enhancements, weapon upgrade options, and other gameplay features. Besides that, new gameplay features include an interconnected immersion, removing loading scenes as Isaac roams the USG Ishimura. Players can also hear Isaac’s voice as he yields his teammates’ names or explains how he plans to repair the sprawling starship.

The new gameplay snippet follows the story of our protagonist, who explores the revamped USG Ishimura with the hopes of reaching the ship’s engineering deck to repair its engines. On his challenging pathway, Isaac can use his special boots to leap across platforms thanks to zero-gravity sections.

Isaac’s special propulsion boost is also showcased, which allows him to make quick moves to dodge Necromorphs’ attacks. Furthermore, there will be plenty of locked doors and loot containers, which players can access to collect materials. Perhaps most excitingly, some locked doors include side quests, revealing more about Isaac’s partner, Nicole.

Players can use materials they accumulate throughout their path to upgrade weapons such as the Plasma Cutter and Pulse Rifle. It increases damage, ammo capacity, and reload speed to make players stronger against Necromorphs. As for visual enhancements, EA Motive said in a press release: “A rich layer of visual polish has been applied to the entire experience. Small details set the mood, including floating dust particles, ominous fog hanging above the floor, dripping blood stains, and dingy lighting.”

EA Motive assured players that they will encounter a futuristic user interface, in which menu text and icons look cleaner than the 2008’s Dead Space. Intensify director, on the other hand, will keep players ready against surprise Necromorph attacks. Last but not least, each time players revisit an area, they will find a different ambience supported by enhanced visuals.

Dead Space Remake is due out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on January 27th 2023.
