Dead Island 2 has been unfortunately pushed back once again.

Publisher Deep Silver and developer Dambuster Studios have announced that Dead Island 2 has been delayed from February 3rd to April 28th 2023, due to the team requiring more time to polish the game before launch. It was also claimed that Dead Island 2 is currently in its final development phase.

“The irony of delaying Dead Island 2 is not lost on us, and we are as disappointed as you undoubtedly are. The delay is just 12 short weeks and development is on the final straight now; we’re going to take the time we need to make sure we can launch a game we’re proud to launch. For those of you who’ve been waiting for years, thank you for hanging in there with us”, the studios confirmed via the game’s official Twitter account.

The hotly anticipated sequel to 2011’s zombie-infested RPG, Dead Island, has undergone a tumultuous development period since it was first announced back in 2014. Dead Island 2’s journey to its launch has been rocky, with a new development team taking up the project at various times. After disappearing from the public eye for a number of years, Dead Island 2 was finally resurrected with a new trailer at Gamescom Opening Night Live back in August.

Dambuster Studios also announced that they will give further information about Dead Island 2 via a new trailer and gameplay showcase next month. “In the meantime, we will be releasing an exciting new trailer and gameplay at The Dead Island 2 Showcase, which will premiere on December 6 on our Twitch and YouTube channels, as well as on the Dead Island website.”

Dead Island 2 is an action RPG that takes place in Los Angeles and San Fransisco, combining horror and dark humour for an epic survival experience. Dead Island 2 will launch for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on April 28th 2023.
