While many players are trying out the latest episode from The Dark Pictures anthology The Devil In Me, it seems Supermassive Games need to look back at the previous titles of the series some of which are facing critical issues.
As reported by Euro Gamer, it’s been two months since Supermassive launched an update for Man of Medan and Little Hope to add new contents as well as anticipated accessibility features to both games, but unfortunately, the update apparently triggered a number of new bugs that completely prevent some players from enjoying the game.
The new bugs vary from progression blockers to missing audio features, to saving errors. Some players simply can’t save their progress anymore due to these bugs, which makes the game almost unplayable for them. Back in October, Supermassive Games confirmed some of these bugs and indicated that the team was investigating the issues, however, no updates have been shared two months after the bugs appeared in both titles.
While Supermassive Games has not revealed what is the reason behind this long process of fixing the issues for Man of Medan and Little Hope, it seems like the launch of The Devil In Me could be one big reason contributing to the studio’s inability to deliver a fix just in time.
In the long run, this is surely going to hurt Supermassive itself as the players who are now enjoying The Devil In Me might avoid from purchasing the previous titles of the series. Currently, there is a Dark Pictures bundle that offers the first three titles of the series. It is expected that Supermassive adds this year’s episode to the bundle in the near future as well.
Supermassive is not done with The Dark Pictures yet, as the studio plans to release a new entry from the series in 2023 for PlayStation VR 2. Despite featuring the choices-matter elements, the gameplay of the VR iteration Switchback will be more leaned toward a first-person shooter experience with flashbacks to the worlds of the previous Dark Pictures episodes. We will see more about this new experience next year.
