Daisy Ridley Discusses Her Star Wars Future

Daisy Ridley played the central character Rey in the newest trilogy of mainline Star Wars movies, and while she is not planning to return in the next trilogy of Star Wars films, the future beyond that is uncertain. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Ridley said she believes Rey’s story came to a fitting end in The Rise of Skywalker but said it would be “amazing” to see her return one day.

“Honestly, I have no idea,” Ridley said about her potential involvement in future Star Wars projects as Rey. “I feel like Rey’s story ended in a wonderful way with the last film [Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker].”

2015’s The Force Awakens brought back Han, Luke, and Leia, and fans are wondering if Rey, Finn, Poe, and others from the newest trilogy could return one day. For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

“So I really don’t know if there are plans. I just don’t know. But ultimately, I loved my experience, I loved what I got to do and I love the people I got to work with,” she said. “So, should that happen again, even once, amazing. Because the dream is to really be around nice people that make you feel good and feel heard while you do good work.”

Also in the interview, Ridley reflected on being cast as Rey, saying that for the first two movies, she had a feeling of, “Oh my god, they’ve chosen the wrong person” and that she feared she would “screw it all up.” By The Rise of Skywalker, however, Ridley said she felt like she was “in a very safe environment,” though she admits to still having momentarily feelings of, ‘Oh my God, am I terrible?”

But overall, for The Rise of Skywalker, Ridley said, “I mean, I loved all of them, but it was nice to really be in my body for that last filming experience.”

2019’s The Rise of Skywalker is the latest entry in the series. Disney and Lucasfilm have been focusing more these days on Star Wars TV series, the next of which is The Mandalorian Season 3, which premieres on March 1. In other news, Star Wars Visions Volume 2 is coming this May.
