Cult of the Lamb: How To Beat Shamura

Shamura is the fourth Bishop of the Old Faith in Cult of the Lamb. He is not the hardest bishop if handled correctly, but he does have the ability to overwhelm players and place them in a battle that heavily favors him. A lot happens at this point in the story, but nothing will be spoiled as this guide will only make you understand Shamura’s moves and how you can counter them.

Shamura unleashes techniques that players have learned from other enemies and bosses. This fight can be tricky, but it can be finished quickly and effectively once mastered.

Phase One

Shamura has several main moves for Phase 1 of his fight, and here’s what players should do against these attacks:

• Shamura will perform a forward lunging attack.
  • This attack is easy to dodge and leaves a small opening for a comeback attack.
• He will throw out a barrage of bombs at the player.
  • The bombs go at random locations on the map.
  • He shoots one bomb at a time so players can dodge accordingly by keeping track of which bombs are hitting first and where.
• Shamura will spider swing out of the map and do a quick land back in.
  • There is no exact spot for Shamura’s landing. Just know that he will try to land above players, so they must be ready to roll immediately.
• He will make a move where he jumps around and then shoots a circle of fireballs when he lands.
  • The jumps are pretty slow, making it easier for players to track him. Players can do some damage when he does his final jump.
• Spiders will randomly spawn during this phase.
  • Players should take these spiders out as their ability to shoot out of the map and randomly jump back in can be dangerous if stacked with other enemies.

Phase Two

Shamura will use a lot of moves from the first phase but with increased frequency, making them difficult to dodge:

• He will do his jump fireball circle attack more quickly and for a longer duration.
  • This attack will create a lot of chaos on the field as there will be fireballs shooting all over the place, and the boss can also do damage by landing on the player.
  • Players should roll away from the boss until he stops. Then, quickly try and get in a couple of hits before his next move.
• Shamura will shoot arc blue fire projectiles with an AOE out of his spider butt.
  • This move is great for players as most shots will go over them. It gives players enough time to rush in and land a full combo and a curse on Shamura.
• The boss will begin multiple forward jumping lunger attacks.
  • These have a huge hitbox, so players should roll out of them to not get hit.
  • Shamura does this about four times and then stops, and that’s when you can land some hits on the boss.
• Shamura will get chaotic and summon more spiders as his health reaches its end.
  • You want to be safe when reaching this point, but also try to end the fight quickly as you don’t want to get overwhelmed by everything on the screen.
