Koji Ogawa is returning from the 2013 Pretty Cure All Stars film to direct the 20th season at Toei Animation. This time around, the anime will have a motif of sky and a theme of heroes. The series is set in two places: the heavenly realm Skyland and Sorashido, a city surrounded by nature. In the plot of the show, Skyland’s Princess El is taken by a monster from the Underdog Empire. When a brave girl who so badly wants to be a hero follows the princess into a hole, they both end up in the city of Sorashido. You can tune in on Saturday to watch the Precure girls (and boy) explore the new world.

The very first season of Pretty Cure premiered in 2004 and had 49 episodes. Since then, the anime has continued to release seasons yearly, with each season containing 45-50 episodes. Beginning with the second, each season also received a theatrical animated film based on the series.
