Critter-catching MMO Duel Revolution launches to withering accusations of P2W, bugs, and bad gameplay

In these tired and jaded times, it’s very often easy to believe that indie game efforts are a beacon of light in the darkness of megacorp monetization schemes and barely baked early access launches. However, that’s not always the case, as evidenced by the launch of Duel Revolution, the Pokemon-styled 2-D MMORPG from two-person indie effort Game Matter, which made its full release this week on PC and mobile to some extremely disastrous results.

The MMO’s current Steam review scores are at a blistering “Mostly Negative” aggregate, with multiple players warning that the game is absolutely loaded with pay-to-win predation that sells monsters directly which appears to be linked to some absurdly low monster catch rates. On top of that, multiple reviews call out crashing and bugs, as well as early game imbalance, extremely grindy XP rates, and a lack of elemental counters that are expected features of combat.

As of this writing there haven’t been any missives from Game Matter addressing the uproar on Steam, Discord, or Twitter, while the Steam player numbers sit at some deeply unfortunate levels at the moment. All things considered, it may be best to let this one cook.
