Coronation Street’s Paul Foreman to enjoy final holiday with Billy as health deteriorates | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Since Paul (played by Peter Ash) was diagnosed with MND earlier this year, fans of the ITV soap have seen him decide to keep his health a secret.

However, as his leg starts to become affected, some Weatherfield residents have started to notice something isn’t quite right, including his partner Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank).

This week, Paul told Dee Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) that he’ll finally tell his family and Billy after his court hearing and Gemma’s (Dolly Campbell) wedding.

Coronation Street bosses have confirmed Billy’s set to discover the truth soon, although it’s not yet clear how he’ll find out.

Official spoilers for next week show that as the reality of what’s happening to his partner sinks in, he’s determined to make some happy memories with Paul.

After recently learning about Tofersen treatment, which could help slow down his MND, Paul heads to the hospital to see if he’s eligible.

Although as it’s only suitable for a small percentage of people with the condition, it’s not looking hopeful for Paul.

Showing his support, Billy attends the appointment with Paul as they meet with the MND specialist.

Later on in the week, Billy wants to cheer Paul up and decides a holiday would be a great temporary distraction.

Agreeing to go, Paul packs up some last-minute bits but is left surprised when Billy pulls up outside in the church minibus.

Confessing he’s borrowing it for their trip away, Paul’s amused to see Billy’s decorated the bus with inflatable animals.

As his friends stand around to wave them off, the duo leave Weatherfield to enjoy one last final holiday together while they’re still able to.

Although it’s not yet known when it will happen, Coronation Street has confirmed Paul’s MND storyline will result in actor Peter Ash leaving the show.

Speaking about the moment he learnt what was in store for his character, the soap star confessed it was a mixture of feelings

He explained: “I’ll be sad to leave the show. It’s been such an amazing job, I’ve met fantastic people.

“So I’ll be sad to leave, but also at the same time, I’m quite happy to be involved in such a powerful storyline that hopefully will bring awareness to it. It’s a double-edged sword.”

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV from 8pm.
