Coronation Street star teases tragedy for Daisy Midgeley and Daniel | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Coronation Street stars Rob Mallard and Charlotte Jordan attended the red carpet event for the British Soap Awards at the weekend.

The ITV stars are in with a chance of walking away with Best Dramatic Performance and Scene of the Year for the harrowing acid attack storyline.

Daniel Osbourne and Daisy Midgeley were happily set for marriage before Daisy’s stalker took drastic action by throwing acid, which hit Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott).

Ahead of the British Soap Awards, actor Rob teased there could be more trouble ahead for the couple, who are yet to get their happy ending.

When asked whether they could get married in the future, Rob told Express.co.uk: “Yes I think we could, I think they will be more determined now than ever to do it.

“But this is soap land, they do not like to let people be happy. As tragic as it is, happy characters don’t make for good drama.

“So I think they will keep pulling us together and pulling us apart, but hopefully eventually.”

When asked whether he wanted the pair to have a happily ever after, he added: “If you knew this person in real life you would want them to be happy but as an actor no, keep throwing as many tragic things at them as possible.”

The star said he was keen to see Daisy and Daniel have children together, adding: “They got a baby out of me within the first year and a half, I was under no illusions as to what I was there for.

“If it’s my choice I’d say they should have a little girl.”

However, his co-star Charlotte said she did not quite feel ready for motherhood just yet.

She said: “Not if it’s up to me, I don’t know, I think they want to maybe get another Barlow out of one of his wives so it wouldn’t surprise me.

“I just don’t want to push around a pram for a year and do nothing else, so we shall see. I just don’t know whether I’m ready to play a mother yet.”

Addressing whether Daisy and Ryan will start falling for one another in a more serious relationship, she teased: “I think there will be a lot more honest feelings involved, the last time it was all very manipulative and all a bit sick and twisted.

“Whereas this time it will be genuine feelings, which will be nice.”

She did suggest Daisy and Daniel would eventually make it down the aisle in the future.
