The cult is composed of Irish lords and corrupt druids, who are on a quest to thwart High King Flann’s attempt to unify all of Ireland. There are ten cult members in total, four of which must be found and assassinated during quests. The remaining six can be discovered by finding their corresponding clues. Assassinating each member of the cult sees them drop an Amber shard and gear. This guide provides detailed instructions on collecting all the cultist clues and locations, as well as some invaluable tips for eliminating each Member of the Order.

Before you hunt down this nefarious group, you must first unlock the menu that enables you to track them. This menu is similar to that of the Order of the Ancients, and is unlocked automatically during the Potion of Blood main quest. The quest is acquired a few hours into the expansion, and follows right after the main quest Foothold in Connacht.

The Wren

  • The Wren is the first member of the cult that you will assassinate, and her corresponding first clue is received from Ciara during the Potion of Blood quest. The clue will lead you to the location of the second clue, which can be found near Port Auley, north of Connacht. Look for a red hut in the area, and head inside to pick up the second clue.

  • Again, the second clue will reveal the location of the third clue: near Lough Gara, north of Connacht. Once in this area, you can find a ritual stone with the clue placed on the altar. Pick up the clue to reveal The Wren’s identity as Niamh, the poet.

Location & Assassination Strategy: Once you have collected all the clues for The Wren, you can mark her location on the map from the Children of Danu menu. After identifying her location, head to Rathcrogan’s marketplace to find her within the distrust area. Be prepared to face two to three guards who usually surround her.

Beware: If you choose to pick a fight, additional guards will show up to reinforce her.

Alternatively, you can opt for a stealthy approach and assassinate The Wren quietly. Be careful, though, because the guards around her may notice and attack you once you have eliminated her. Defeat all the guards and confirm your kill to eliminate The Wren from the Children of Danu menu. Assassinating her will reward you with new clues for The Ash and The Cursed, as well as an amber shard.

The Cursed

  • The first clue for The Cursed is obtained by assassinating The Wren.
  • Once you deliver the amber shards to Deirdre as part of Potion of Blood quest line, you will pick up the second clue for The Cursed, beginning another quest called Into the Fog.
  • The second clue will reveal the location of the third clue, which can be found in the small village of Tuam, southwest of Connacht. Once in this area, look for a locked cottage in the center of a settlement. Scout the area with Synin to find the key sitting on a window ledge. Pick up the key to unlock the cottage door and collect a note that instructs you to enter an underground cave. Explore the cave to find a prisoner. Free him and interact with him to discover the third clue for The Cursed.

Location & Assassination Strategy: Exit the underground cave and meet with Ciara outside Tuam. Speak with her and follow her to the south of Lackanscaul to confront The Cursed. While on the trail of The Cursed, you will come across a wolf-like creature. Follow the beast’s tracks with Ciara until you finally find it, and it transforms into a werewolf, now called the Puca. Fight the Puca until it transforms back to a wolf, leaving behind more tracks.

Follow the tracks further until you reach a ritualistic site where The Cursed can be found. She is well-guarded by over 10 enemies, so maintain your distance and do not let them overwhelm you. The Puca will also return to join the fight. Take down the beast with a combination of ranged and melee attacks. With all enemies defeated, The Cursed will be rendered weak and defenseless, allowing for an easy assassination. Kill The Cursed like the historically-significant Assassin you are to pick up yet another amber shard and a clue for The Deer.

Keep your distance and use your bow to eliminate the many enemies one by one.

Although it is possible to assassinate The Deer from a vantage point, doing so will alert nearby guards, forcing you into a fight. It’s crucial to choose the right moment to strike. There are only a few moments when The Deer moves away from the line of sight of his guards, presenting a perfect opportunity for an assassination. At the end of the cave, you will find The Ash accompanied by another druid. You cannot approach this encounter stealthily, and must be prepared for a head-on fight. After defeating both the druids, confirm the kill on The Ash to acquire an amber shard and the first clue for The Blaze.

Be aware of the druids’ poison attacks, which can apply the poison status and lower your health.

Assassination Strategy: After gathering the two clues, the identity of The Oak is revealed as Eogan mac Cartaigh. To locate and assassinate The Oak, you will need to begin the “A Scourging of Snakes” main quest, which becomes available during the Ledecestrescire arc.

This is a stronghold mission, in which you attack the village of Armagh and make your way through clearing waves of enemies. Eventually, you will come across a large red gate that has to be opened using a nearby lift. Use the lift to climb over the wall to encounter a few more enemies. Once you’ve defeated the enemies, use your arrows to shoot down the two locks holding up the gate and escort Flann uphill to a monastery. The Oak has barricaded himself within this monastery with two guards providing him protection.

Rewards For Assassinating All Children Of Danu

After collecting all the amber shards, return to Deirdre and hand them over to her to begin the Amber Sun side quest. Deirdre will prepare a potion for you and ask you to defeat Balor, a towering druidic monster.

How to Defeat Balor?

The giant Balor in battle Assassin's Creed Valhalla Wrath of the Druids

The fight begins with a cutscene, and immediately after, Balor jumps at you with a thrust attack. Evade his jump thrust attacks by dodging sideways. Maintain a safe distance and fire no more than two arrows at a time, as the giant will counter your attacks with area attacks. Balor’s strikes have very long range, so it is crucial to keep your distance.

Continue dealing damage with your bow until you reduce Balor’s health by 25%. Another cutscene will play, with Balor removing his mask and exposing his weak spots on his right elbow and left knee. Once you deal damage to a weak spot, Balor will perform an area attack and shoot a beam at you. You must evade the beam by sprinting either left or right. This fight will take some time, so keep your distance and remain patient, waiting for the right opportunities to strike.
