Nigel Harman admitted a co-star’s advice ahead of his Strictly Come Dancing debut was “not helpful”.

The Casualty star has been gearing up to perform to the nation for the first episode of the 2023 series of the BBC show, and he was after all the help and advice he could get.

Speaking to Express.co.uk and other publications, he explained he hadn’t sought advice from his former EastEnders co-stars but had asked Casualty colleague, Charlie Venn.

“To be honest, I haven’t spoken to anyone from EastEnders that was in it,” he stated.

The actor added: “I spoke to Charlie Venn, he just told me to be myself and to do cardio.

“Which, coming from Charlie… I was like, ‘What? Even you struggled with it?’ He went, ‘I was knackered.’ So that didn’t help, that conversation.”

The star also went on to admit things could be awkward between him and judge Craig Revel Horwood.

“So I know Craig… from years ago, I haven’t seen him in 20 years,” he stated.

“I did a show with him and I remember from that experience being lined up, and we had to do something one at a time because someone was doing it wrong.

“And it got to me, and it was me… And I forgot this story until I signed up to do this show and then I’ve gone… oh s***.

“So he’s either going to be really pleased to see me or it’s going to be awkward.

“But the others I really like! I’m looking forward to meeting Motsi and Shirley.”

Nigel explained he was “terrified” after signing up for the dance show.

“I’m amazed, excited, and terrified to be doing Strictly,” he admitted.

“As an armchair fan of the show I have watched in awe as people have twirled and gyrated across the screen. And now it’s my turn…..gulp!”

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on Saturday at 6.35pm.
