Capcom, Warner Bros, SNK, and more are expected to show off reveals during EVO 2022

Fighting game fans are going to be out of contact this weekend, as EVO 2022 will begin once more on August 5. Once a year, those in the fighting game community (FGC) gather around Twitch to watch the best of the best duke it out in games like Street Fighter V and Guilty Gear. And this year will be no different. But like with every major fighting game tournament, many wonder what titles or characters are coming next. Those are questions EVO owner Sony may answer during its Evo Lounge, a show promising to bring “content and reveals” from companies like Capcom, SNK, Arc System Works, and Warner Bros during EVO 2022.

The PlayStation Tournamets: Evo Lounge is a live-hosted show starring both players and commentators “who live and breathe the FGC.” Oftentimes, viewers wonder if or when a major competition will offer any juicy announcements. It does happen from time to time, but generally after an event has concluded. The Evo Lounge, however, will cover EVO 2022 during the show, creating one place for any and all reveals.

There are a few reason why this all matters. With Warner Bros. Games making an appearance, there’s now a slim chance we may hear something about what Mortal Kombat creator NetherRealm Games is cooking up. So far, NetherRealm’s current project has been a mystery. Signs are pointing to a new Mortal Kombat, but it’s hard to say for sure. The show may also dive a bit deeper into Capcom’s upcoming Street Fighter 6, which was revealed only a couple months ago.

Here comes a new challenger?

To be more realistic, we’ll probably hear about new character joining the rosters of current fighting games. And that’s not a bad thing. The Evo Lounge is arguably a better way to digest any small or major reveals during EVO 2022, as they can ride the waves of excitement to the end of the event. To find out for yourself, head over to the PlayStation Twitch channel starting on Friday.

EVO 2022 will feature nine fighting games in its lineup. There’ll be the comeback king, Street Fighter V, as well as Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, which has been able to hang on longer than a lot of NetherRealm releases. Melty Blood, Skullgirls, Tekken 7, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and more are also included.
