Can you get Banned for doing XP Glitches in Fortnite? Explained

Glitches in online competitive games generally do not mix well. Most of the time, the developers punish players who use a game-breaking glitch or glitches that make them lead the pack in terms of progression. Punishments range from resetting your progress to where you were before the glitch, or even banning you from servers.

The biggest question stands: can you get banned in Fortnite for doing XP glitches? This article will explain the pros and cons of XP glitching in the game and if it’s bannable.

Can XP Glitches ban you in Fortnite?

The answer is it depends. As explained in the instances above, it highly depends on the method that you’re using. If it involves third-party software to access resources that are not readily available in-game, you’re most likely breaking Epic Games’ TOS (Terms of Service), which will result in a ban. If it’s a community-made map or anything within the game, chances are many users will utilize this as well, and Epic will be more lenient in these cases.

However, there are XP glitches that involve community-made XP maps, and most of these are not bannable in the eyes of Epic Games. All community-made maps must have the stamp of approval from Epic Games. Hence, if an XP glitch map gets out, it’s Epic Games’ lack of attentiveness.

Pros and cons of XP glitches in Fortnite

Believe it or not, there are “pros” to using XP glitches in Fortnite, aside from cons. Below are examples of both of these instances.

Pros

  • You can get ahead of the curve by accessing the best skins in the Battle Pass without spending a single dime.
  • There are some XP Glitches that allow you to AFK farm XP. You have more time to do something else.

Cons

  • The unnerving feeling of risking a ban.
  • It’s not in the spirit of playing online games (debatable).

XP glitches in Fortnite range from community-made maps to outright abusing unreleased Limited Time Modes (LTM). The problem is that Epic Games already has a history of banning players from accessing LTMs using bots and farm XP. The majority of the players reported that Epic Games issued the ban due to the protocol bypass, which allowed them to access unreleased LTMs.
