Can you change outfits in Final Fantasy 16? Answered

There’s no doubt about the fact that the character designs in Final Fantasy games are top notch. No matter who it is, these characters are always dressed for the best. You can say the same for Final Fantasy 16, which lets you play as Clive, but brings along side characters with their own unique getups. The real question is if you can change their outfits in Final Fantasy 16, which we will answer below.

Are character’s outfits changeable in Final Fantasy 16?

I’m sad to say that like most Final Fantasy games, you cannot change your outfit in Final Fantasy 16. This isn’t to say that Clive will always be wearing the same thing. You’ll play as this character throughout three different stages of his life, each version adorning a new outfit to showcase the time difference.

In the past, Square Enix allowed your characters to change outfits. For example, in Final Fantasy 14, you can create your own character from the ground up. Final Fantasy 15 allowed you to change Noctis and your party’s outfits with a few different options. In the latest installment, you can still change Clive’s Weapon, Belt, and Vambraces. Also, there are three different Accessories you can wear at once. Sadly, only one of these gear options actually changes Clive’s appearance.

Anytime you change Clive’s weapon in the Gear and Eikons menu, the appearance switches as well. This is the only visible change in his looks you can play around with. For example, when I got the Braveheart weapon, I could clearly see the difference between his old and new sword on his back. Although this is a nice change, I would’ve enjoyed seeing different outfits available for Clive, Jill, Cid, or even Torgal.

Despite this, the answer to if you can change your outfit in Final Fantasy 16 being no isn’t too disappointing. Clive and friends always look their best, even when they’re at their worst.

Final Fantasy 16 is available as a PlayStation 5 exclusive.
