Walter White himself, Bryan Cranston, seems content with the Breaking Bad universe coming to a close following the end of Better Call Saul. The award-winning actor spoke about how it’s okay to “let it go” while promoting the upcoming movie Argylle.
Speaking with ET, Cranston was asked about the end of Better Call Saul, a spin-off of Breaking Bad. “Everything should come to an end,” said Cranston, who won multiple Emmys and a Golden Globe for portraying Walter White. “I mean, everything’s cyclical, our lives are cyclical, the seasons, trees, everything. So it’s okay to have a beginning, middle, and end and then let it go.”
Better Call Saul ended in August 2022 and somehow didn’t win a single Emmy after being nominated 53 times–a new record for losses by a show. As for Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan, he’s also talked openly about stepping away to do something new. “You’ve got to know when to leave the party,” he said with Better Call Saul’s conclusion. His next show is a sci-fi project for Apple TV+.
Now, Cranston seems more intrigued about another revival for his other popular TV show: Malcolm in the Middle. Playing the father Hal, Cranston admitted “there’s been some conversation” about more Malcolm in the Middle, “but nothing definitive.”
In the meantime, he’ll star in Argylle, which Taylor Swift did not secretly write. Director Matthew Vaughn confirmed earlier this month that rumors of the pop star authoring the book that the film is based on aren’t true after his daughter mentioned the internet speculation. Argylle will premiere in theaters this Friday, February 2.
