A complete overhaul compared to the early access version with more challenge tiers, visual improvements, and new cards for each playable brave.
Publisher Astrolabe Games and developer ISVR have officially confirmed the global release of the active-time deck-building RPG, Brave’s Rage. The game will be available worldwide for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC on February 2nd, 2023.
Brave’s Rage seeks to integrate the usual Active Time Battle mechanics present in most Japanese RPGs with traditional deck-building gameplay. Active Time Battle means there is limited time to take actions during combat turns, and the player has to work against the clock to decide which enemy they should attack and which spell or ability to cast. Brave’s Rage utilizes this theme to provide a refreshing and intense twist on the deck-building RPG genre where every wasted second can influence the tides of battle.
Brave’s Rage has gone through an extensive period of fine-tuning, and the full release can be considered an entirely new game. There will be 10 new enemy types, and 10 new cards added to every character – brave – deck, not to mention new equipment and improved enemy AI, as well as balance adjustments for all cards, especially the underused ones. The team believes all these core changes will open the doors to more flexibility and variety in deck builds.
The storyline is also getting a big expansion with five new different Challenge Tiers – on top of the original 15 – for the players to overcome using their favorite braves. A ninth brave, the princess, is also getting added. The princess can use all cards from each brave deck and some very powerful skills, but since she is originally the target of the braves’ rescue quest, players can’t unlock her unless all original 15 Challenge Tiers are completed and the hidden boss is also defeated.
Last but not least, the full version will have an optimized gameplay experience for consoles, a new achievement system, revamped UI, adjustable combat speeds, and some leeways to control the flow of battle without getting stressed about the limited time window. The new challenge tiers will grace the players with sweet rewards like alternate customs for all braves and a time-trial mode, so even though the game’s difficulty has become more streamlined through all the new tweaks, there is still something in-store for hardcore veterans to enjoy.
