Bradley Walsh transforms into a Gladiator in throwback clip | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Ahead of the new BBC series airing later this year, Gladiators’ official Instagram has been getting fans excited for the 90s reboot.

Along with posting images of the new line-up, they’ve also shared some throwback clips from the original show.

One of which includes Bradley Walsh, who will host the upcoming series with his son Barney, from his appearances back in 1997.

Turning himself into a Gladiator, the now 62-year-old is seen fresh-faced with long blonde hair, a far cry different from how fans are used to seeing him look on The Chase.

Appearing alongside the infamous Wolf, Bradley wore a baggy red top and shorts before “stripping off” to reveal a new identity he’d given himself.

Giving the audience a show, the commentator said: “What’s Brad up to now? Oh my goodness.

“He’s taking his clothes off, He’s gone from Brad to Drag.”

Climbing up one of the obstacles in nothing but a sports bra and speedos, Bradley addressed the live crowd.

He said: “Ladies and gentlemen, I am the new girl gladiator, Crumpet.”

After he introduced his teammate, Bradley came down the high tower and spoke to presenter Ulrika Jonsson.

He said: “Sorry about that, they’re my flesh-coloured tights, thank you!”

Captioning the short throwback clip, the Gladiators confessed it was the “strangest clip” from the show as they questioned whether or not Bradley would bring Crumpet back for the new series.

Bradley shared his excitement over becoming the presenter for the reboot as he spoke about regularly going to the studio to watch his wife, who was head choreographer for the Gladiator cheerleaders.

He said: “Wow! I can’t believe that I’ve been asked to be part of this iconic show.

“I used to sit backstage, or in the audience, every week watching my wife be part of this juggernaut and now I get to co-host a new version of GLADIATORS!!!

“Saturday night family entertainment at its best…ARE YOU READY ?!“

Although there’s yet to be a confirmed start date, it’s believed the BBC series will air mid-late 2023.
