Bounty Hunter’ remake coming summer 2024

It’s been confirmed that a remake of Star Wars: Bounty Hunter is in development, and will be released this summer.

Originally released in 2002, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter sees players take on the role of Jango Fett as the bounty hunter gets to work across the galaxy. Set before the events of Star Wars: Attack Of The Clones, Bounty Hunter will see Jango Fett hired to capture a “deranged Dark Jedi,” according to the Steam listing.

“Fight your way through the galaxy’s underbelly, equipped with Dual Blasters, your Flamethrower, Whipcord, and pure Mandalorian Rage,” the listing continued.

The remake, headed up by Aspyr, will update the original game for modern consoles and feature “visual enhancements, improved environmental textures, new dynamic lighting effects, and a new flashlight tool.” The new remake will also feature Boba Fett as an unlockable playable character – something that was teased in the original, but never materialised.

“The most devoted fans of Star Wars: Bounty Hunter may have heard about an easter egg left in the game. A very low-resolution texture with a message written in Aurebesh— “Cash in all bounties to play as Boba”,” said PlayStation in an announcement blog. “While the message did exist, the feature did not. So even if you hit 100% on your save file, you were only able to play as Jango Fett.”

“We’ve brought this easter egg to life, so after completing the campaign, you will be able to equip a new Boba Fett skin for your next playthrough.”

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter is set for release August 1 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch consoles, and is also available for PC via Steam.

Aspyr was behind the recent re-release of Star Wars Battlefront: Classic Collection and also worked on the Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered game.

In other news, rediscovered court documents reveal that Nintendo almost gave Donkey Kong a very different name.
