After airing the very episode of the series last week, Blue Lock returns to our screens for another episode later this week. After losing a match to reach the nationals, Yoichi is saddened, but soon he is introduced to the training regime known as Blue Lock, which will create the world’s best egotist striker.
This is the first time Blue Lock has got an anime adaptation, and the first season of the series will run for 24 episodes in two different cours. The manga of Blue Lock is currently running on its 20th volume, which means the show could get another season in the future. But for now, it’s time for the second episode of the series.
Blue Lock Episode 1 Recap
Episode one began with Yoichi and his team losing the finals after the captain of the opposite team, Ryosuke Kira, scored a goal. Yoichi is saddened after losing and wonders if he will ever be able to become a famous football player. But shortly after the defeat, his mother gives him a letter from the Japan Football Union which invites him to a training regime known as Blue Lock. In total, 300 strikers are invited to Blue Lock at a remote location.
While the winner of the regime will become the starting striker, the rest of the players will be banned from playing in Japan. The first game involves tagging other players by kicking the ball, and the person who gets hit by the ball will be called “it,” and that person will be eliminated.
Gurimu Igarashi becomes “it”, and he is able to pass the status to Yoichi by hitting him. Although Yoichi gets a chance to tag Gurimu Igarashi, he takes the risk of tagging someone else and finally eliminates Ryosuke right before time finishes.
