The show for all things Blizzard is just around the corner. Happening on November 3 and 4 in Anaheim California, the annual convention is a place where Blizzard and its fans can celebrate many beloved franchises. This includes Diablo, Overwatch, Warcraft, StarCraft, and Hearthstone. 

BlizzCon was originally kickstarted in 2005, which makes it 18 years old at this point, though they did skip a couple of years due to COVID-19. So what’s happening this weekend at BlizzCon 2023? How do you watch it if you’re not lucky enough to nab a ticket? Read on! 

BlizzCon 2023 and the In-Person Event

This year marks the return to an in-person event, as they are right back in the Anaheim Convention Center. To celebrate, Blizzard is designing BlizzCon 2023 to be a “one-of-a-kind immersive experience” that will pull attendees right into the beloved game franchises. They did mention only three major IPs, however, namely Warcraft, Diablo, and Overwatch. Walking around the BlizzCon 2023 showroom floor would make people feel right inside whatever game universe strikes their fancy. 

It is a noble endeavor, one that Blizzard is excited to showcase. This is the first time ever that the developers are doing it this way, as they want to make the return to an in-person event extremely memorable. 

Events, Schedules, and More!

So what can you actually do during BlizzCon 2023? If we take a look at the online streaming schedule, we get a glimpse of the major plot points that will be coming out of BlizzCon 2023. All times from now on are listed in PDT. 

Starting on November 3rd at 11 AM  is the conference Opening Ceremony. Traditionally, these are grand affairs that will highlight most of the things to come. After that we move on to what’s next for World of Warcraft, Overwatch 2, WoW Classic, and Hearthstone. Last on that day is Warcraft Rumblings, which is likely just info on the new Warcraft mobile game. On November 4th, we go into a deep dive on WoW and what’s next for Overwatch 2. We will also get a nice Campfire Chat for Diablo IV, which recently came to Steam and released its second season, Season of Blood. 

Closing out the conference is a Community Night and an appearance by Le Seserafim, a K-POP band who is also doing some crossover events with Overwatch 2 at the moment. 

The main showroom floors will also have gaming booths where players can test the upcoming content for WoW and other titles. Players can get tattooed if they really, really love Diablo, or dress up as a Murloc and parade the halls.

BlizzCon 2023 Ticket Prices

Currently, tickets are still available on the main BlizzCon 2023 website. There are two tiers of tickets, General Admission and the Portal Pass. Gen ad will set you back $299 and will include access to all of the showroom halls, access to the BlizzCon store on Thursday, November 2nd, exclusive in-game goodies, and a nifty backpack that will help expand your inventory space. 

The more expensive tier, the Portal Pass, retails for $799. Getting the higher tier includes everything in General Admission, plus exclusive access to a private viewing lounge, concessions, experiences, and developer meet and greets. This pass will also have a separate registration and entrance line, presumably with fewer people due to the massive increase in price. 

If you want to watch virtually, there’s no cost at all whatsoever this year as BlizzCon 2023 will be streamed live on the official YouTube and Twitch channels. 

Lastly, for those who want to support the developers even more, you can purchase the online-only BlizzCon Collection which includes a swathe of exclusive in-game goodies for the major active franchises. This one sells for $29.99 for the “Epic” pack, and $49.99 for the Legendary pack. 

Convenient Convention

BlizzCon 2023 is shaping up to be quite the spectacle with a grand sense of scale. It’s quite unfortunate that there is no mention of one of its other founding games, StarCraft, anywhere on the schedule. Fans of Blizzard’s MOBA, Heroes of the Storm, also were quite hopeful for an update after development on the title stopped last year especially since the game had a surprise PTR update just last week. Their hopes were dashed with the release of the conference schedules.
