The Elder Scrolls’ 30th anniversary celebration, one of the most important sagas in video game history, Bethesda shared some brief details about the development of the new installment of the franchise, The Elder Scrolls VI, which is indeed underway.
Bethesda referred to the development of The Elder Scrolls VI As part of a post made on their X account (formerly Twitter) to commemorate the 30th anniversary of The Elder Scrolls, one of their most iconic franchises, the company took the opportunity to discuss the work being done on a new installment. In the last paragraph of the post, which can be seen at the bottom of this note, Bethesda stated: “Last but not least, yes, we are developing the next chapter: The Elder Scrolls VI. Even now, returning to Tamriel and playing the early versions of the game fills us with the same joy, excitement, and promise of adventure.”

There are still no certainties about when the new game from Bethesda’s saga could arrive, and it was clear from the message posted that the company is still far from being able to determine a specific date.
The truth is that since its announcement in 2018, it has been believed that The Elder Scrolls VI could hit the market for PC and Xbox exclusively, not until 2026. In recent hours, there has been a very interesting atmosphere in the Xbox environment, as everything points to the fact that the Redmond company would be preparing a bombshell regarding the arrival of its exclusive games to PlayStation and Nintendo platforms.
While initially it was mentioned that they would be minor titles like Hi-Fi Rush or Sea of Thieves, now there is talk that even Starfield, Hellblade II, and even illustrious sagas like Halo and Gears of War could take the same path. Something that opens the door to another of the big projects.
This is because the possible presence of The Elder Scrolls VI on PS5 has been a subject of debate in the sector for several years now, without any of the responsible parties daring to give a definitive answer in this regard. Now, with the change of direction that Xbox seems to be taking regarding its exclusive licenses, the possibility of having a version of the sixth installment of the saga on Sony’s current-generation console is more open than ever.
It remains to be seen how this announcement will be made by Microsoft’s gaming division, as it is unknown whether there will be simultaneous releases or if they will be temporary exclusivities on Xbox consoles that will later reach other platforms. In any case, whatever they are preparing promises to change the industry forever.
Meanwhile this move would affect the company’s console division, as sales of Xbox Series X|S would be below expectations, which could be motivating this decision.
