Yoimiya returns to the game as an available character with her rerun banner in the second half of Genshin Impact 2.8. The 5-star character, who makes use of the Pyro element and uses a bow in combat, is a powerful main DPS for the right team. How to equip Yoimiya to make the most of her is shown in this build guide.

Genshin Impact Yoimiya: Strengths and Weaknesses

What tasks can Yoimiya take on in a team? The archer is a strong Pyro DPS against single targets, and also boosts her team’s damage with the help of her fairly cheap Elemental Burst.

However, Yoimiya has a hard time facing off against multiple targets, and since her strongest attacks are towards the middle and end of her attack sequence, interruptions from enemy attacks are very punishing for her. A shield character can help remedy this.

If this sounds like a role that still needs filling in your lineup, then Yoimiya is an outstanding option for you and you should try to pull for her.

Genshin Impact Yoimiya: Best Weapon

Yoimiya’s main task is to cause as much damage as possible. Primarily, therefore, you should make sure to maximize her Attack stat. Additionally, it doesn’t hurt at all to increase her Elemental More. This ensures that elemental reactions do more damage.

With this information in mind, the best weapon for Yoimiya is the Thundering Pulse, a 5-star bow. It increases the Attack stat by a whopping 20 percent and also increases the damage of standard attacks by up to 40 percent in three stages. Since Yoimiya’s main damage comes from using her rapidly firing standard attacks, this is a powerful bonus.

What are some alternative weapons for Yoimiya?

Skyward Harp (5-star) – increases Attack and enables some area of effect damage.
Polar Star (5-star) – increases Attack in stacks, as well as ability damage.
Rust (4-star) – increases Attack and damage from standard attacks.
Hamayumi (4-star) – increases Attack and damage from standard attacks; is craftable and therefore a good free-to-play option.

Genshin Impact Yoimiya: Best Artifact Set

The objective of boosting Yoimiya’s Attack stat as much as possible opens up a range of options greater than usual when it comes to artifact sets.

The first option is Echoes of an Offering. Starting with two pieces, it gives an 18 percent bonus to Attack, but many sets can do that. From four pieces onwards, a passive effect occurs that increases damage from standard attacks by 70 percent of the Attack value. This is a boost not to be sneezed at, but it can occur inconsistently since it is a random effect.

The second option is Shimenawa’s Reminiscence. Starting with two pieces, it boosts Attack by 18 percent, and starting with four pieces, you get a ten-second 50 percent bonus to the damage of standard attacks when using your Elemental Burst. In this case, you should prefer Energy Recharge as a secondary stat on your artifacts, since activating the set effect eats up a bit of energy. This option is the best for maximizing Yoimiya’s own damage, though it sacrifices the advantage of having a cheap Elemental Burst.

The third option is called Crimson Witch of Embers. Here, two pieces of the set provide a 15 percent bonus to Pyro damage. Since Yoimiya’s standard attacks use this damage type after triggering her special ability, this comes in handy. With four pieces, Pyro reactions increase in damage by up to 40 percent, and the two-piece-effect gets a boost after using the Elemental Burst.

It is recommended that you focus on fully completing one of these options instead of mixing and matching different pieces from different sets together. Until you have a complete set, you can of course mix the artifact sets as you please. In this case, Gladiator’s Finale is also a nice option to bridge any gaps.

We recommend the following stat distribution:

Plume: Attack (main stat), Critical Damage, Critical Hit Rate, Attack %, Elemental Mastery (sub stats).
Flower: HP (main stat), Critical Damage, Critical Hit Rate, Attack %, Elemental Mastery (sub stats).
Sands: Attack % (main stat), Critical Damage, Critical Hit Rate, Energy Recharge, Elemental Mastery (sub stats).
Goblet: Pyro Damage % (main stat), Critical Damage, Critical Hit Rate, Attack %, Elemental Mastery (sub stats).
Circlet: Critical Damage (main stat), Critical Damage, Critical Hit Rate, Energy Recharge, Elemental Mastery (sub stats).

Genshin Impact: How to play Yoimiya?

What does a standard rotation look like with a Yoimiya team? First, start with your off-field or sub DPS characters and supports and use their abilities to litter the field with elemental effects.

Then switch to Yoimiya and use her Elemental Burst and special ability. After that, use Yoimiya’s standard attacks, which now cause Pyro damage and are very rapid, until all elemental effects have expired. Then go back to the first step.

Genshin Impact Yoimiya: Best Teams

Since Yoimiya spends a lot of time on the field as the main DPS, the remaining team members serve primarily as supporters from off the field, providing additional elemental effects, shields, and healing. Yoimiya can be played excellently in the following team composition:

Yoimiya (Main DPS), Xingqiu (Sub DPS), Bennett (Support), Yun Jin (Support).

An off-field DPS character like Xingqiu provides the constant application of another element with which Yoimiya’s Pyro attacks can react. Bennett holds the role of healer and helps out with a Pyro damage boost. Yun Jin shines in combination with Yoimiya because she buffs the damage of standard attacks with her own kit.

However, these roles can be filled with a variety of characters:

Sub DPS: Beidou, Raiden, Yelan, Fischl, Kazuha.
Support (Healing): Diona, Kokomi.
Support (Shield): Zhongli, Noelle.
