The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has a lot of deep mechanics playing out in the background, and you might get through the whole game without noticing some of them. If something is even remotely remarkable, though, there are probably a few missions or resources that build on it. Here is our guide outlining the best uses for Star Fragments in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Tears of the Kingdom – best uses for Star Fragments

As you roam Hyrule at night, you’ll sometimes see stars dropping from the sky. You can find them where they land to acquire the Star Fragment, a rare and valuable item you can use in a number of ways. We have a guide posted that tells you how to get Star Fragments.

Personally, I like to launch from a Skyview Tower shortly after night arrives and then glide over the landscape just below the clouds. A star often falls right near me, in that case. The ‘twinkling’ sound lets me know it is about to pass near me. Just after it does, I dive through the air and catch it before it even hits the ground.

Some of the best uses for Star Fragments include armor enhancement, attachment to weapons, and sale to merchants. Below, we’ll cover a few of those uses in detail.

Totk Star Fragment Armor Upgrade

I suggest you set aside as many Star Fragments as possible for upgrading equipment. For instance, you can use Star Fragments to enhance most armor you might acquire using an amiibo or by visiting remote ruins. These include the Awakening armor set and the Hero of Time set. Upgrading that armor is a reasonable priority. You’ll need dozens of Star Fragments for that purpose.

You can also attach Star Fragments to weapons and shields. They might work best affixed to a shield. They give off a nice glow even if you are just walking around with a fused shield resting on your back. When you are exploring the Depths, every little bit of light helps. Attached to a melee weapon, they function as a flashlight of sorts. They’re rare enough that I don’t recommend ever fusing them with an arrow, though.

Totk Star Fragment Sell For Rupees

Finally, you can also sell Star Fragments to merchants. Those merchants will pay 200 rupees for each one. This is useful if you have a bunch of them in your inventory and you have already upgraded your armor sets. If you get good at finding the fragments, you might enjoy selling them. Until then, you’re better using them in one of the other ways described.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for purchase from the Nintendo Store.
