Not to mention the feeling of being sorted into one of the four houses and feeling comradery with others, and being able to choose your wand and becoming even more immersed in the world. This list will include any entry in the franchise that is a video game and is still playable to this day, including mobile games.

DUALSHOCKERS VIDEO OF THE DAY

10 Harry Potter for Kinect

This game features moments from all eight of the Harry Potter films, all while attempting to use the motion controls of the Xbox 360 Kinect. Gameplay features you mimicking movements of casting spells with your invisible wand, as well as saying the name of some spells. You also mimic jumping and dodging to interact with enemies and navigate the in-game world.

There is also a broom riding and Quidditch segment that was known for being notoriously difficult because of the controls. You also switch between playing as the main three characters Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

9 Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

This game came out on the original PlayStation and features seven levels from the film that shares the same name. Gameplay consists of collecting a different color of bean for each level to unlock an item or spell to help you progress further into the story of the game. The game also includes boss fights, a Quidditch race, and a final fight with Voldemort at the end.

There are also mini-games in each level containing activities such as collecting more beans in with a time limit and moving cauldrons around without getting them stuck in a corner. The game was great when it came out and was named one of the best-selling PlayStation games of 2003.

8 Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery

The Title Splash Screen of Hogwarts: Mystery

Hogwarts: Mystery is the first mobile game on this list for a reason and is a close representation of what Hogwarts Legacy could be. The game allows you to create a self-inserted character into the Harry Potter universe and go to Hogwarts. Here you will meet several professors that fans will recognize that were even voiced by the same actors as the movies. You are also able to choose your own wand at Ollivander’s and choose the house that you like the most.

The gameplay consists of a dialogue between your character and the professors, as well as other original characters made for the game. During classes, you spend energy completing various tasks to gain new spells and to progress the story. You can quickly run out of energy to spend and must either wait in real time to get more or buy some with real money. That’s why Hogwarts: Mystery is so low on this list.

7 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1

This game is a bit of an odd one compared to the other entries on this list. The game shakes up the normal puzzle and school simulator gameplay that the other Harry Potter games were known for and becomes more of a third-person shooter. Deathly Hallows – Part 1 follows the story of the movie for the most part, but adds in way more action.

Levels consist of playing as the three main characters and fighting evil wizards and Death Eaters. It ends up being quite the entertaining shooter with a cover system. It also had a Kinect-based mode on Xbox, and it was a more puzzle-based game on the Nintendo DS.

6 Harry Potter and the Prisoner Azkaban

This game is pretty close to the story of the actual film. You lean spells from classes and their respectful levels. There are also puzzle aspects that are solved with spells and the cloak of invisibility.

You also complete the game by playing all three of the main characters and teaming up with Remus Lupin to help free Sirius Black and stop the Dementors terrorizing Hogwarts. Gameplay also differed between console and PC versions and the handheld versions. The Game Boy port is more like an RPG instead of a puzzle game.

5 Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells

This is the second mobile game on this list. It is developed by Zynga and has similar gameplay to Bejeweled and other such “match three games”. It has characters from all films in the Harry Potter universe, as you start from the beginning of Philosopher’s Stone. You must also navigate various obstacles that can be solved with spells that you acquire as you level up.

You also create an avatar, choose a house, and a magic wand to further implement yourself in the game. This game is higher on the list than the other mobile game because of how easy it is to progress without paying real money into the game.

4 Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7

This is the second of the two LEGO Harry Potter games that have been made by Traveler’s Tales. Its gameplay is similar to the other LEGO games, except for progression is achieved by learning spells as each of the three main characters, who can only use certain spells. The story is set around the last four movies, and each movie is separated into different chapters.

Some are free roaming around the world and others are actual classic LEGO game levels. There are also 200 characters to collect along with other red brick and gold brick collectibles. Years 5-7 lose some points because most people are not as big as fans of the later films.

3 Book Of Spells

Book Of Spells is another intractable game similar to the Kinect game, except this game was released for the PlayStation 3 Move. It came with an actual book that the PlayStation camera interacts with, as well as the Move controller. In the game, you cast various spells while flipping through the book and using your controller as a wand.

This game scores higher on the list than the Kinect game because of how much easier it is to interact with, and it had fewer glitches. It does lose points, however, because of how expensive it was on release and how short the experience was in total.

2 Pottermore

This is a bit of a weird entry. It is a website, but it also is interactive with its quizzes, and how it includes you even further into the Wizarding World. You can take a quiz to find out what Hogwarts house you fit in, as well as what magic wand you would have in the universe.

This also will play into Hogwarts Legacy releases, as you will be able to connect these items in the game without needing to take the quiz again. You can also find out what Patronus you would have to help you fend off Dementors.

1 Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 is the absolute best Harry Potter game, at least until Hogwarts Legacy comes out. It is the first of the two LEGO Harry Potter games. It features the signature gameplay of the classic LEGO games. This game features the stories of the first four movies that most fans enjoy more than the later films.

Progression is also linked to the story and the different spells that each of the three characters learns. There are 167 characters to collect and even more red bricks, gold bricks, and students in peril to find! It also features a full Hogwarts Castle, Diagon Alley, and Hogsmeade to explore and adventure through.
