Starting Team Build

Blood Bowl 3 Black Orc Starting Build

  • 1x Trained Troll
  • 6 x Black Orcs
  • 5 x Goblin Bruiser Linemen
  • 2 x Team Re-rolls

This build includes the Trained Troll, enabling your team to field an impressive seven ST4+ players, which will give you enormous pitch control. Six Black Orcs and five Bruiser Goblins take you to twelve players, which gives you an extra body for fouling, or if you suffer attrition. Two Team Re-rolls are the minimum you can safely get away with, and you probably need to keep these mainly for ball handling. This build has no room to invest in Dedicated Fans, so money may come a little slow to begin with.

Team Development

A third Team Re-roll is your priority. After this, the Apothecary is always a good purchase. Another Goblin to take the roster to thirteen is a good idea. You don’t have anything else you really can or should spend money on after this, but a fourth Team Re-roll or another Goblin are both worth considering.

Best Skills

Blood Bowl 3 Black Orc SKills

Below are the best skills for your different players to take. Any Secondary skills, which will cost more SPP, have been marked in italics.

Player

Skill

Trained Troll

Guard, Stand Firm, Block

Black Orc

Guard, Mighty Blow, Tackle, Frenzy, Block

Bruiser Goblin

Sneaky Git, Dirty Player, Catch/Sprint (for Throw-Team Mate attempts)

Mighty Blow is your best all-around choice for a first skill for Black Orcs. Though they start with Brawler, this skill is really not a patch on Block, so ultimately you will probably want to take that on at least some. Tackle and Frenzy are good tools to deal with particular problems you might face, but you only want one or two players with either skill. You might find Guard is useful, or you might have more than enough strength already; this will depend on the meta you play into; remember it will also grant assists for fouling though.

Goblins can be skilled either as ball-carrier/Throw Teammate players or as foulers.

Strategies

Blood Bowl 3 Black Orc Strategy

Black Orcs are a team with very high strength but low mobility. This build will only see four players with Movement Allowance 6 on the field, with the rest of your team having only MA4. This means your goal will be to control the pitch through strength and removing your opponent’s players while positioning your own, carefully, to ensure you are not outmaneuvered.

On offense, you will need to play a slow, cage-based grind down the field. Most probably you will carry the ball with a Goblin, but if you have a lot of control or numbers advantage, you can carry with a Black Orc to try and get them more Star Player Points.

Your Black Orcs’ Grab skill is an incredible control tool, and you have it in abundance. You can use this to keep weak opponents locked in base contact with your Black Orcs and Troll. You can also use it to position downed opponents in places where they can be gang-fouled. Fouling is one of your best removal tools, and your cheap Goblin players are perfect for it.

Don’t forget that you can attempt one-turn Touchdowns with the Throw-Team Mate skill. This is a low percentage play, but it can completely change games in your favor. Your Goblins can also assist in general play by getting into positions that most players cannot, thanks to the combination of Dodge and Stunty. This gives you a 3+ re-rollable chance to get into any square, regardless of Tackle Zones.
