BBC Breakfast viewers fumed the broadcaster’s “standards are slipping” after they were unable to watch their local news report during the programme.
Host Sally Nugent even explained there may be a mix-up with the local news due to strikes.
Before cutting to one of her BBC co-stars, she said: “Time now to get the news, the travel, and the weather where you are this morning.
“Some of the programmes might be affected by regional industrial action.”
Despite Sally’s warning, viewers were left fuming by the change and took to social media to share their thoughts.

@BusyBeeDebraC complained: “@BBCBreakfast I can’t count how many times we get the wrong region’s news because someone presses the wrong button. C’mon BBC – standards slipping.”
@pspeck_ld_tech fumed: “@BBCBreakfast be honest, show a strike sign or something – am not interested in local news that isn’t… Local!!”
@Lessa_Riel went on: “@BBCBreakfast when you said local news affected by strike I didn’t expect you to mean I would get North West news with South East subtitles.” (sic)
While @CaroDiamond2 added: “@BBCBreakfast what’s going on today? Local news covered from Cumbria to Cornwall and Full Monty again.”
“@BBCBreakfast Where is my local news for the south, today??!!!!” @Soose68185894 asked.
@joy__lawson raged: “@BBCBreakfast yet again in Yorkshire we are not getting our local look north news.”
@ktparf quizzed: “Hello BBC people- what’s going on with Local news? I’m getting Manchester and I live in Reading! random!” (sic)
The change to the local news comes after a 48-hour strike action which begins today and will end at midnight on June 8.
1,000 journalists are expected to take part in the industrial strike action over the BBC’s plans to reduce local radio services across England.
Strikes on Wednesday and Thursday follow industrial action by journalists in March and stalled negotiations with the BBC.
The NUJ says the most recent proposals have failed to address the NUJ’s concerns about the impact of fewer services, and an increase in shared programmes.
