DICE has just released a trailer for the third season of Battlefield 2042. Titled Escalation, players can expect 100 tiers in the battle pass that comes with it.
The trailer features action on a scale so massive, it could only be a Battlefield game. EA is including a bunch of new weapons and gadgets for players to dominate with — including an all-new railgun tank!
The trailer opens up with an introduction to Battlefield 2042’s newest specialist: Rasheed Zain. Rasheed Zain will come to the fight with a brand new close-quarter weapon and ability. He will be able to use the XM370A Airburst Launcher to take out enemies behind cover. The weapon is semi-automatic and shoots rounds that are burst-able midair.
Rasheed Zain also comes with a new ability: Perseverance. When using it, Rasheed Zain will recover health faster than the other specialists around him after taking an enemy out. It’s a simple but effective means of making sure players can use Rasheed Zain aggressively.
The trailer then shows off what players can expect in season three’s battle pass. Battlefield 2042 players will be treated to new skins for some of their favorite weapons, including new looks for the NTW-50 anti-material rifle and M5A3 battle rifle.
Weapons aren’t the only assets to be getting new skins, as both Specialists and some vehicles will be getting new skins as well. Operators Lis, Paik, and Falck will be getting the Fjord, Bionic, and White Tail skins respectively. The high-flying MD540 Nightbird will be getting the new Vapor skin while the ferocious EBBA Wildcat will be getting the new Mainframe skin.
One of the most exciting features of the new trailer and battle pass is the EMKV90-TOR — a tank with what looks to be a railgun attached to it. The trailer shows the tank immediately destroying an incoming enemy vehicle, perhaps showing Battlefield players what vehicle they should try and go for early.
Escalation also features a new throwable object for players: the classic throwing knife. Players may use it during the new takedown, The Impaler. The Impaler is a brutal takedown where the player stabs an enemy multiple times before finally finishing them off.
The trailer finishes with a look at the highest tier of the battle pass. Tier 100, the final tier, is a skin called Chemical Agent for the new specialist Rasheed Zain. Players can begin the new season when it releases on November 22.
