As spotted by Insider Gaming, EA DICE revealed in a recent developer update on Battlefield 2042 that the game will make its way to EA Play and Game Pass Ultimate subscription service with the launch of Season 3 in December 2022.

Announcing its plans for the Year 2 of content support for Battlefield 2042, DICE confirmed that the upcoming season will bring free access opportunities across all platforms, allowing fans to experience the game a year after its launch with all the fixes and tweaks done over this period.

With Season 3, DICE plans to finally listen to one of the highly asked community demands and bring back the series core class system, which will distribute current Specialists in four different classes. However, this will be a mid-season update launching in early 2023.

Similar to previous seasons, Season 3 will introduce a new Specialist, which is supposed to be an Assault. Furthermore, you can expect the reworked versions of Manifest and Breakaway maps to arrive during the new season. DICE has not talked about a new map for this season, but we should probably wait until the official announcement, which is supposed to arrive later this month.

As the Specialists fall into different classes, the developer aims to add new benefits to Specialists of each class. The Assault class will have a faster ADS and ready-to-fire status after sprinting, while Recon Specialists will be able to stabilize their weapons faster and hold their breath longer. For the Support class, LMGs will have additional magazines and will perform more efficiently with bipods. Finally, the Engineer class will benefit from improved reloading for utility weapons.

Despite the fact that DICE plans another year of content support for Battlefield 2042, the community still prefers to play Battlefield 1 or Battlefield 5. Recently, Battlefield 1 received a hefty discount on Steam, which helped the game to reach over 53,000 concurrent players on Steam earlier this week, a number that Battlefield 2042 has not been close to since December 2021.

Season 3 is expected to be launched earlier next month, with the exact release date to be announced in a few weeks.
