Baldur’s Gate 3 player finds the Nautiloid ship crash site on the DND Faerün Map

We know that Baldur’s Gate 3 is a Dungeons and Dragons experience set in Faerün, but we’ve never known where exactly the story takes place. One dedicated player has discovered the exact location of the Baldur’s Gate 3 story, including the Nautiloid ship crash site, on the DND Faerün map.

Where does Baldur’s Gate 3 take place on the DND Faerün map?

I know this is all extremely nerdy and nobody really asked, but I’m grateful to CommanderRasseru on Reddit for figuring out where Baldur’s Gate 3 takes place on Faerün, the world in which people play DND and BG3 is set in.

Google Faerün and you’ll see how unbelievably big the world map is. It really adds to how impressive CommanderRasseru’s work here is. And while there are a few elite nerd DMs in the comments debating the exact locations of things, almost everyone agrees that this is the most accurate location for the story of Baldur’s Gate 3.

As you can see in the map above, CommanderRasseru included the Nautiloid crash site which happens at the beginning of Act 1. It’s along a river just east of Fort Morninglord and north of Wood of Sharp Teeth (glad we didn’t land there).

As we progress through Baldur’s Gate 3, we continue traveling west which is actually accurate if you consider the Act 1 and Act 2 maps and how we usually start in the east and journey west. Ultimately, we pass Moonrise Towers and reach Baldur’s Gate, all of which rests near River Chionthar.

Whether you’re big into DND lore or just a casual like me, this map of where Baldur’s Gate 3 took place is remarkable. If you want to create your own tabletop version of Baldur’s Gate 3, you now can since we know exactly where it takes place on Faerün.
