Avatar Studio’s next project will focus on the story of Zuko.
According to a report from AvatarNews, a source at Paramount has confirmed the production of a new Avatar: The Last Airbender movie, focusing on the character of Zuko. Previously, the movie was only rumored, but now the news seems to be official as the source confirmed the production of the upcoming film with Paramount Studios, the parent company of Avatar Studios.
According to the report, the upcoming movie will focus on the character of Prince Zuko, also known as the Blue Spirit. While the reports only confirm the movie’s 2026 release as of now, the expected release date is October 9th, 2026. The release date is not just a wild guess but is anticipated based on the release of another upcoming film featuring Aang’s Team Avatars as adults, which is slated for a release on Friday, October 10th, 2025.
Avatar Studio plans on releasing one movie and one TV show per year, so the studio booking the same Friday slot of the same month wouldn’t come as a surprise. But everything related to the release date is pure speculation as of now.
Avatar Studios is yet to confirm the cast, crew, and other details regarding the film, including the timeline and storyline it will follow. However, we can assume the Zuko-based movie to run in the same timeline as the upcoming Gaang movie. The reports confirm that the three upcoming movies of the franchise will not be interconnected and will follow a standalone storyline. While we can’t say with a surety who will return for the Zuko movie’s cast, Dante Basco will most likely reprise his role as he is already booked for voicing Zuko in the 2025 movie as the adult Zuko.
