The Season of GO is about to come to an end and will be duly bid farewell by the closing event for GO Fest 2022. Before that, however, the Pokémon World Championships event will run its course, and the regular weekly routine program will continue. Find out what’s coming up in Pokémon GO during the week of August 22-28, 2022 in the weekly preview here.

Spotlight Hour: Nidoran (male)

Tuesday, August 23, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time

Once again, this is not an overly exciting Spotlight Hour, but it does have its good points: Nidoran (male) can be found in the Shiny version and evolves into Nidoking, a truly cool first-generation pocket monster, at its final stage. Those who have yet to fill this gap in their collection should seize the opportunity.

For those who no longer need Nidoran (male), the evening’s bonus will keep them occupied for a bit: In the one-hour time frame, candy for sending Pokémon away is doubled. So, save up the strong PvP Pokémon you catch during the World Championship event and send them to the professor during Spotlight Hour. This will then provide enough candy to get the monsters ready for GO Battle League.

Raid Hour: Zacian

Wednesday, August 24, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time

Zacian and Zamazenta, the stars on the boxes of Sword and Shield, are currently acting as bosses in the fifth-level raids. However, during the upcoming Raid Hour, Zamazenta will have to give way and let Zacian take over the show for a while: The Fairy-type Pokémon will appear at all available gyms during this period, giving you the chance to snag multiple copies in a short amount of time. Unfortunately, the Shiny version is not available at this time.

GO Battle League: Great League, Ultra League and Master League

Wednesday, August 24, 2022, starting at 1 p.m. PDT

Season 11 of GO Battle League will end together with the Season of GO on September 1, 2022. Until then, the three standard formats of the PvP league – Great League, Ultra League, and Master League – will be available side by side.

Niantic should announce details about the schedule and competitive formats for Season 12 soon. However, additional maintenance may be coming to GO Battle League in the near future: At the World Championships in London, Pokémon GO did not present itself super well due to many technical difficulties.

GO Fest: Finale event

Saturday, August 27, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time

After a global kickoff and three regional offline events, GO Fest returns to the online realms for its Finale, where players around the world will have the chance to secure all four Ultra Beasts released to date – Nihilego, Pheromosa, Buzzwole, and Xurkitree will appear in the Raids. The good news is that you don’t need a ticket to the event to battle and catch them!

However, much of the other content, including Special Research with Shaymin (Sky Forme) and the four mentioned Ultra Beasts, will only be available to players who purchase a ticket. Those who have already bought a ticket for the opening event will not have to dig into their wallets again, however, as that original ticket is still valid.

The overview will tell you more about the exact content of the event.
