Here is everything you need to know about Ancestors’ and Ancestral Favor in the Lunar Awakening event in Diablo 4.

Ancestors’ or Ancestral Favor? Diablo 4 Lunar Awakening

Since all the different Malphas naming debacle wasn’t enough – with multiple enemies named after the Season 3 demon antagonist -, Blizzard is now unveiling the Lunar Awakening event with new event mechanics such as the Lunar Shrines which provide increased buffs for your characters. However, if you have taken a closer look at both the event’s trailer and its corresponding blog spot, you may have noticed two terms that, while meaning the same, name two elements of the Lunar Awakening event in Diablo 4. Let me explain the differences between the two before I go completely crazy, which is not a difficult task to do, quite honestly.

What is Ancestors’ Favor in Diablo 4 Lunar Awakening event?

Let’s start with Ancestors’ Favor. This is perhaps the most obscure one out of the two. This is because this is a Nightmare Dungeon affix that will apply randomly during the Lunar Awakening event. Thankfully, this is an affix that will actually help you out by transforming all the Shrines in the Dungeon into Lunar Shrines. Not only that, but you will receive a 10% Glyph XP bonus once you complete the Dungeon.

What is Ancestral Favor in Diablo 4 Lunar Awakening event?

Ancestral Favor – not to be confused with Ancestors’ Favor – is a reputation score for the Lunar Awakening event. You see, as long as you activate Lunar Shrines both in dungeons and in the overworld, and you kill enemies and actively take part in the event’s activities, you will get Ancestral Favor. This Ancestral Favor acts as XP, allowing you to get to 10 different milestones. These 10 levels of Ancestral Favor will unlock cosmetic rewards once you interact with Ying-Yue, the event NPC.
