Like previous Mission: Impossible films, Dead Reckoning Part One has a big stunt that involved Tom Cruise, several trains, and the destruction of a 70-ton locomotive. Cruise filmed his stunt on the very first day of shooting back in September 2020 in Norway, as he repeatedly rode a motorcycle off a ramp and over a cliff, safely base-jumping down to the ground below in that sequence. The rest of the scene was completed in the United Kingdom, and saw the production team send a gigantic train crashing into England’s Darlton Quarry.

“In Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team embark on their most dangerous mission yet: To track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity before it falls into the wrong hands,” the film’s synopsis reads. “With control of the future and the fate of the world at stake, and dark forces from Ethan’s past closing in, a deadly race around the globe begins. Confronted by a mysterious, all-powerful enemy, Ethan is forced to consider that nothing can matter more than his mission – not even the lives of those he cares about most.”
