All Blades Of Chaos Runic Attack Locations

There are plenty of different attacks to unlock for the Blades of Chaos in God of War Ragnarok. Here’s where you can find them.


During God of War Ragnarok, Kratos and Atreus explore epic, sprawling scenery while battling monsters, creatures, and enemies around every corner. Although he sports some amazing new weapons, Kratos still dawns the original Blades of Chaos, which have been his go-to weapon since the very beginning.

Extremely powerful in their own right, the Blades of Chaos also feature upgrades, abilities, and other improvements as the game goes on. However, in such a vast mythological world, finding something like all the Runic Attacks for the Blades of Chaos isn’t exactly easy. So here are all the Runic Attack locations for the Blades of Chaos and how to find each one.

Midgard Locations

Cyclone of Chaos Light In a Legendary Chest in the Raider Stronghold. Found after heading down the opposite doorway, off the main path. The chest is down the hall. (See Map Image 1)
Tartarus Rage Heavy In a Legendary Chest in a Raider Hideout, east of Tyr’s Temple. Found by defeating the raiders, jumping up the painted platform to the right, and opening the chest. (Map Image 2)

Svartalfheim Locations

Atlas Eruption Heavy In a Legendary Chest in The Forge. First, climb a painted path off to the right. Freeze the geyser with the Leviathan Axe, turn around and hop on the elevator. Recall the Axe and cross the bridge at the top. (Map Image 1)
Flames of Anguish Light Dropped by the mini-boss, a Dreki, during “The Quest for Tyr” progress. Make sure to pick up the loot the Dreki drops off the ground as players can miss it if they pass up the chance during the quest. (Map Image 2)

Niflheim Location

Meteoric Slam Heavy In a Legendary Chest under the Raven Tree. Kratos needs to have found 38 of Odin’s Ravens to open this one. (Map Image 1)

Vanaheim Locations

Rampage of the Furies Light In a Legendary Chest in Vanir Shrine, open the gate past the artifact. Right away, burn the blue thorns with the Blades of Chaos to the right. Throw the Leviathan Axe at the exposed target in the crack in the wall. Turn around, go back down the path Kratos came from, and the chest is now exposed. (Map Image 1)
Helios Flare Light In a Legendary Chest near the Abandoned Village. Inside a cave below, have Kratos pull a pillar down. Climb back up, switch the crane, and swing across. Next, walk to the ledge and swing the crane again to expose the chest. (Map Image 2)

Alfheim Locations

Nemean Crush Heavy In a Legendary Chest in The Burrows. Destroy the glowing sacks around the Jellyfish and the main path of the mission will lead Kratos to a room with an Artifact and a Legendary Chest. (Map Image 1)
Hades Retribution Light In a Legendary Chest in the Temple of Light. In the spiral stairway, around halfway up there’s a dropdown area to the left. Go down two levels to find the chest. (Map Image 2)

Helheim Location

Tame the Beast Heavy In a Legendary Chest during the quest “Reunion”, Kratos needs the spear to get to the chest. If a player misses the chest during the mission, they can’t go back but can buy the Runic Attack from Sindri’s Shop for 5000 Hacksilver. (Map Image 1)
