All Axolotl Colors in Minecraft

Guides

They’re so cute!

It’s been over a year since those cute amphibian critters were added to Minecraft in the Caves and Cliffs update. While lots of content has been added since, it’s fair to say that Axolotls are still the star of the show, thanks to their sheer charm and lovability. If you’re here, though, you may be wondering what all the different Axolotl color variations there are in Minecraft. Fear not, as you’re in the right place. Here’s everything you need to know.

All Axolotl Colors in Minecraft

In total, there are five Axolotl colors that can be found in Mojang’s creative sandbox sim. These are split into Common and Rare types. At the time of writing, there are currently four Common color variants and one Rare color variant.

Common

Common Axolotl color variants all have the same spawn chance of around 24.98%.

  • Leucistic – Referred to as ‘Lucy’ in both its texture file and by fans, these are pink all over with a dark pink detail along its crest on its back.
  • Wild – These are light brown with a dark brown detail along its crest.
  • Gold – These are gold with a dark gold detail along its crest.
  • Cyan – These are light blue with a dark pink crest.

Rare

The rare Axolotl color variant only has a 0.083% chance of spawning, so managing to find one is like finding a needle in a haystack.

  • Blue – These have indigo blue bodies and a purple crest along its back.

Can You Tame Axolotls in Minecraft?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but unlike Ocelots, Wolves, Horses, Llamas, Frogs, and Parrots, Axolotls cannot be tamed in Minecraft, at the time of writing. We know, it sucks, right?

So, there you have it. We hope this helped clue you in on all the different Axolotl color variations there are in Minecraft. For more tips and guides, search for Twinfinite. Plus, feel free to check out more of our Minecraft content below.
