Later this month AfterShock Comics will release Land of the Living Gods #4. The penultimate issue of the sci-fi fantasy series comes from the creative team of writer Isaac Mogajane, artist Santtos, and letterer Dave Sharpe. Today The Beat is pleased to offer an exclusive preview of the issue, which finds heroine Naledi dealing with the latest shocking revelation in her quest to save the world.
Here’s how AfterShock describes Land of the Living Gods #4:
As Naledi learns the truth behind Lutho’s shocking abilities, Kaelo starts executing a mysterious plan of her own. But in order to pull it off, she will have to confront the ghosts of her past and strike dark deals with people she swore she would never look upon again. Meanwhile, with her perceived power slowly fading away, Shandu’s witch, Baleka, sets her eyes on Naledi and the magical properties harbored by her various body parts.
In a statement back when the series was first announced, writer Isaac Mogajane described some of the influences that went into his development of the series:
“One of my major influences is the manga and feature film, Akira. I loved how this film created a wholly believable future that was so deeply steeped in Japanese aesthetics and culture. Seeing it as a child made me want to do the same by telling genre stories that come from South Africa and feel wholly specific to here.”
