Honkai Impact 3rd has a new free story expansion called Part 2 that takes us to Mars. If you’re behind, here’s whether or not you need to play Part 1 before Part 2.
How to start Honkai Impact 3rd Part 2
It isn’t required to play Honkai Impact 3rd Part 1 before Part 2. If you’re brand new to the series, you can download the game for free and skip Part 1 entirely to get right into Part 2. There is one caveat though.

The only requirement you need to meet to start Honkai Impact 3rd Part 2 is to be Captain Level 30. Naturally, if you are new to Honkai Impact 3rd, you’ll be Captain Level 1.
As you familiarize yourself with the game and work through Part 1 to gain more XP, you’ll eventually reach Captain Level 30. You can then choose to finish Part 1 before starting Part 2 so you understand the narrative, or you can skip right to Part 2 with ease. The choice is yours!
The only issue with skipping Part 1 to play Part 2 is you might not fully understand the story or the characters. You can always come back and complete Part 1 while playing through Part 2, too, so don’t feel like you’re closing yourself off to anything.
How to level up fast in Honkai Impact 3rd
If you really want to beeline your way to Honkai Impact 3rd Part 2, you need to know how to level up fast. There are no shortcuts to gaining a lot of Captin Levels quickly, but you can get more XP by completing missions that require more stamina, looking for and completing missions with Ai-chan’s Care, and using XP Chips. Using all three of those together will help you quickly reach Captain Level 30.
