How to fuse Messiah in Persona 3 Reload

In Persona 3 Reload, the allies you gather to your side through fusion are extremely powerful, allowing you to weather the most intense battles in the endgame. Here is our guide telling you how to fuse Messiah, arguably the most powerful option in Persona 3 Reload.

Persona 3 Reload – how to fuse Messiah

Most personas come with some sort of obvious weakness. Messiah has no downside that I can see. The one I fused can ignore physical attacks, repels strikes from the Light and Dark affinities, and enjoys resistance to the remaining four elements. To fuse Messiah, combine Orpheus and Thanatos, while meeting level requirements.

Near the end of the game, when things are at their darkest, you receive notification you have received the ability to fuse the Messiah persona. However, the recipe isn’t provided and it can be tough to guess. Thanatos is a fairly powerful persona all on his own, who you won’t be able to produce until near the end of the game. Orpheus, on the other hand, is with you from the campaign’s beginning. If you’re like me, he is not one you typically think to keep in your rotation.

To fuse Messiah, your character must be at level 91 or higher (in theory). This level of strength is unlikely to prove necessary before the credits roll. However, you can cheat by drawing a specific Major Arcana card during your Tartarus run. The Sun card allows you to fuse personas at 5 levels above your current level, during your current run. In other words, your player only needs to hit a minimum of level 86. That’s a lot less grinding. Even with an accessory equipped and a lot of Shuffle Time visits, I found it still required a lot of grinding on the highest floors.

When you fuse Messiah, the Judgement Social Link adds levels on top of the base. This allows him to add skills and attributes, besides any you keep from Thanatos. For me, it added Regenerate 3 and Invigorate 3. They partially refill HP and SP each turn, respectively. It also added Null Phys, to nullify physical attacks. The Magic Ability addition, which strengthens non-Almighty skills by 25%, seems to come at level 97 or higher. I haven’t activated it yet. Even so, I keep Messiah in my active stable and suggest that you do the same thing.
