Many of the businesses in Grand Theft Auto Online are passive, making money over time while players complete other jobs. You still need to be online for the money to come in, however, but Rockstar Games has been cracking down on AFK exploits lately.

How to Go AFK in GTA Online and Not Get Kicked

Rockstar has patched most of the tried and true AFK methods in GTA Online with the release of the Chop Shop update. While many players were excited to see the return of Yusif Amir from GTA IV and the addition of new money-making opportunities in the form of the Salvage Yard and vehicle robberies, a lot of people were also upset to find themselves getting kicked from their GTA Online sessions when using their favorite AFK strategies.

The days of using the LS Car Meet or security cameras to go AFK in GTA Online are over. Luckily for us, however, Rockstar seems to have forgotten to fix one specific AFK method. Entering your organization’s office and waiting at the menu, which gives you the option between entering the office or the office garage, will prevent you from getting kicked. Using this method will let you remain in a GTA Online session indefinitely while you rake in as much background cash as you want.

If that doesn’t work for you, then there are other methods you can try. Some players have reported that watching other players on the TV in their apartment still works for going AFK. Others have reported that sitting at one of the horse race betting seats at the Diamond Casino works as well. There’s a good chance that these will be patched sometime in the future, so make sure to try all of them so you have backup strategies just in case.

Going AFK in GTA Online is a great way to make some easy money without putting in a lot of work. While pulling off the Cayo Perico heist or selling a full inventory of special cargo will net you huge lump sums, the money you make while AFK will easily add up over time, especially if you’re a Nightclub or Salvage Yard owner.
