Microsoft looks to be returning to the The Game Awards 2023 this December after not attending last year. Teases “major announcements” and news to be revealed in recent newsletter according to reports.
Xbox Looks to Be Teasing Major Announcements for The Game Awards 2023
Microsoft looks to be returning finally return to The Game Awards this year after being absent from last year’s show. A recent newsletter was sent out teasing “major announcements and more Xbox news you won’t want to miss!” So far they haven’t given any details as to what they will show but the publisher does have quite a few games currently in development. It recently nailed down its acquisition of Activision Blizzard after a long drawn-out process.
The last time Xbox was at The Game Awards was back in 2021, when it gave a major trailer for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2. The sequel was first revealed back in 2019. There’s also the upcoming Action-RPG Avowed, the Fable remake, Everwild, S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2, and State of Decay 3. The last we saw of Fable was the trailer revealed during the Xbox Game Showcase in June. Maybe we’ll get an update on the game’s scope. Although the trailer didn’t reveal any actual gameplay yet. We have also yet to see more of The Outer Worlds 2 which was announced in 2021, which called itself out for showing no gameplay in a comical debut.
Avowed also got a release window for 2024 in June, and has already had an extended look at the game. They could reveal another trailer and a more narrowed-down release window. Obsidian did release some new details during their 20 year anniversary and promised it will remain very much an “Obsidian game”.
Some of the games that Xbox owns and/or published are nominated for the 2023 Game Awards, such as Hi-Fi Rush, Starfield, Forza Motorsport, and Diablo IV. We already know that Baldur’s Gate 3 studio Larian is planning to reveal the release date at TGA for the game on Xbox Series, which is expected to be sometime in December.
