Where to get Claude’s Ultimate Weapon, Aeterna, in Star Ocean The Second Story R
Getting Claude’s Ultimate Weapon in Star Ocean The Second Story R is really easy thanks to a bit of a trick. But let’s run down the method for you to get it. To begin, you’re going to need the Deadly Edge weapon you get from getting to the final of the Armory Contest. This means you’re going to need to win every round of the Armory Contest until you face Dias. I’m not sure whether you can win against Dias, but I lost and still got the Deadly Edge from a sub-event in Lacuer City after the Contest. The sub-event is on the far left side of the city, if you’re curious which one it is.
The Deadly Edge is the weapon that you can customize to get Claude’s Ultimate Weapon, Aeterna, in Star Ocean The Second Story R. To do this, you’re going to need Mithril. This item doesn’t really spawn as soon as you get the Deadly Edge, as it’s a pretty late game customization material that you can get via different methods including Alchemy later on, but thanks to a trick regarding an RNG chance, you can get it now.
Mithril
Mithril is something you can get in the loot table for leveling up the ESP skill. When you level up that skill, you’re given an item every time, and there’s a small chance you can get Mithril from this. To be able to get Aeterna, you need two Mithril, which means you might be here a while, like I was, but the trick here is to simply save scum until you get two Mithril from this. You’re going to need a bit of SP for this, but luckily I had a reserve party member with 200 I could do a few upgrades on and then reset.
I ended up needing to reload my save about 15-20 times to get the Mithril needed for Aeterna in Star Ocean The Second Story R, but you could get it first try, considering it’s just RNG! Another trick for this is to save after you get one, and then save scum until you get another one, but I only realized this after I had spent 40 minutes reloading one save, because I’m dumb. Once you get the Mithril you need, all you have to do is customize the Deadly Edge with it twice. Do it once, and then customize again with the Blade of Minos you get from doing that. I also needed to save scum for this, as my customization wasn’t a high enough level, so you might have to do that too. But this time it took way less than 40 minutes to do for me, thanks RNG!
