Season of Blood – D4 Season 2
During Gamescoms 2023 Opening Night Live, Blizzard announced that a new season would be arriving on October 17th called Season of Blood. This will bring a whole new theme of Vampiric powers with 5 endgame Bosses, better farming for uniques, plus Renown rewards will carry over to characters that have collected Lilith Altars and uncovered the Map.
Other additions include some much-needed quality-of-life improvements such as being able to search inventory plus filter items. Gems will no longer take up your inventory space (yay for hoarders) and a search function will also be added to Stash. Status Effects are getting reworked with changes to Vulnerable, Overpower, and Critical Strike Damage affixes.
BlizzCon 2023
Of course, we also have BlizzCon 2023 to look forward to which is in person this year, which no doubt will feature more Diablo 4 as well as other prominent Blizz games during their livestreams. The livestreams will be free for all to watch this year.
New Class?
Maybe there will be some announcements of a new class at some point? Diablo Immortal got a new vampire class the Blood Knight, which would be fitting with S2’s vampire theme. Whether it will make its way to ARPG isn’t looking that hopeful at the moment. According to a recent Gamescom interview with the German publication 4Players, the Blood Knight class and Season of Blood are a pure coincidence.
They have two different teams working on each of the games, but the vampire-esque theme seems popular. There doesn’t seem to be any plans for the class to be joining Diablo 4 anytime soon. Rod Ferguesson the GM of the franchise explained that the games are “very different”. Most likely the new theme is just fitting for the Halloween season which is already shaping up to be full of fearsome festivities.
