AEW Aims For Saturday Night Slams With New Show

After months of speculation, AEW will add a brand-new show called Collision to TNT, premiering Saturday, June 17. Collision was announced Wednesday by Warner Bros. Discovery’s US Networks CCO Kathleen Finch during the company’s 2023 Upfront presentation. This will be the first wrestling program on a Turner network since WCW Saturday Night folded over 20 years ago.

Collision will be a live, two-hour, in-ring show that will air every Saturday night from 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET to 7 PM PT / 10 PM ET and will feature marquee names such as the returning Miro, Ring of Honor TV Champ Samoa Joe, Thunder Rosa, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Andrade El Idolo.

“With the addition of AEW: Collision on TNT, I’m extremely proud that a Turner network will be the home of Saturday night wrestling for the first time in more than two decades,” said AEW CEO Tony Khan in a statement. “The debut of Collision is significant across numerous sectors including television, wrestling, entertainment, and sports, and reinforces AEW as the bold property we envisioned when we launched in 2019.”

AEW recently ended its long-running web-exclusive shows Dark and Elevation, which featured less-prominent stars and more up-and-comers as well as local talent from wherever they were performing that week. The first rumors of this program started circulating when the return of CM Punk started to arise after his fallout with the company almost a year ago.

Punk has not been seen on AEW television, much less mentioned on-air, so this show was going to be something similar to WWE’s brand split where certain stars are going to be doing one show a week instead of two. It’s likely this is done to keep Punk away from the Elite, but nothing is confirmed on that suspicion.
