Voting for the 2023 edition of the Sanrio Character Ranking is open and will run until Friday May 26, 2023. This years theme is “Be Part of the Fun and Thrills.” You can vote once a day for one of 90 Sanrio characters, such as Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin and Aggretsuko. Currently, the website is under heavy strain and may require waiting up to 10 minutes to register your vote. After voting, you can fill in a short survey, receive character recommendations, or share your vote to Facebook, Twitter or Line.
The first day’s initial results of the ranking will be published on April 13, 2023 followed by the Sanrio+ exclusive results on April 28, 2023. Interim results will be shown on May 11, 2023, with the final results being released on June 11, 2023.
The annual Sanrio Character Ranking was won by Cinnamoroll in both 2021 and 2022 with Pompompurin coming in second both times. Third place was claimed by Pochacco in 2021 and by Kuromi in 2022. This year’s ranking is the 38th since it began in 1986.
After voting closes and the votes are tallied, Sanrio usually releases some of the statistics. These can include total votes and the most popular character in each country.
Sanrio is known for its frequent collaborations. These include a recent April Fools’ Day 2023 event in Granblue Fantasy and beach-themed shirts produced by Uniqlo.
