When constructing your base in Sons of the Forest, you should consider crafting features to help you survive. To fend off enemies, you’ll want to build a house, a perimeter, and even some lookout towers, making it a real fort to be reckoned with. But you also need food. One of the ways you can get consistent food supplies is by growing plants in your base. You can grow many different plants while you’re on the island, and it isn’t even all that hard to do. Here’s how to grow plants in Sons of the Forest.

How to grow plants in Sons of the Forest

When it comes to growing plants in Sons of the Forest, you can do so relatively easily. The first thing you’re going to need to do is accumulate a bunch of sticks. To be more precise, you need 18 sticks to craft a Standing Planter, and 16 to build a Wall Planter. The latter obviously needs a wall to hang on, while the former can be placed on the ground.

Once you’ve got yourself a planter all sorted out, all that’s left to do is to plant some seeds. You can get seeds in Sons of the Forest sometimes when harvesting materials, so keep an eye out if you don’t have any seeds on you. But once you’ve planted some seeds into your planter of choice, you’ll have a small farm as easy as that. All you need to do is wait a few in-game days and they should sprout up and be harvestable for you to use and eat.

When it comes to environmental differences with planting, if your base is located in the snow, it can slow down the planter’s efficiency. Plants will mature slower in the snow, but they should grow eventually.

Sons of the Forest is available on Steam.
