Having trouble beating Sheegoth in Metroid Prime Remastered? This guide can help you find the boss’ weak spots.

Metroid Prime: Remastered follows the original story of Metroid Prime all the way back in 2002. The popular first-person shooter is known for its intense gameplay and interesting mechanics. Samus Aran on the planet Tallon VI, fighting aliens and robotic beasts seems to be the only way to survive. There are a lot of foes that Samus will meet during the game, some small and some gigantically large. There are five bosses until reaching Sheegoth, the Chapel of Elders holding this creature.

Those looking to get the Wave Beam for the Power Suit will get stopped by the giant beast, Sheegoth. Grown fully and armed with icicles upon its back, it becomes a hard foe to face. The ice displayed proudly on its back absorbs power, shooting it right back out at you at any given moment. Tricky to face and tricky to accomplish, the Sheegoth is something to be prepared for.

Fighting The Sheegoth

The Sheegoth has a lot of moves that it follows. These can be pointed out, dodged, and countered. Making sure to have a good way of dodging is always handy as the Sheegoth is fast and will not take many breaks mid-battle. Well-equipped, this boss battle becomes easy to beat in no time.

Note that the ice spikes will suck up most other beams and projectiles. Hitting the ice spikes means that it’s charging the Sheegoth’s energy, and when that happens Sheegoth will launch ice balls toward Samus at a fast rate with all the energy it has absorbed. Besides the ice balls, Sheegoth will also dash toward Samus around the room. This is crucial to avoid as it is very fast and won’t give much time to dodge. Sheegoth also has ice breath that it will breathe in a half-circle motion in front of it.

Sheegoth’s weakness is located on its belly and inside its mouth. Though most beams will simply absorb into the crystals, this will cause more ice balls. The weapon appropriate for the job is the Plasma Beam. It becomes easy to aim at the creature’s stomach with the Plasma Beam, but can still be absorbed into the ice beams. The Morph Ball Bomb also works to inflict some damage on the belly. Missiles will directly affect its head, being the only weapon to attack its head area. The Power Bomb will kill Sheegoth in one hit. The most useful, start-of-game friendly, weapons to use are the Morph Ball Bomb and the Plasma Beam.

A good method to fighting Sheegoth is to switch between the Plasma Beam and another Beam to hit the ice crystals. While it will cause ice balls to shoot from its mouth, the mouth will be open. The mouth is accessible to attacks, so quickly switching to the Plasma Beam is a good way to get some extra hits in. Alternatively, playing it safe and only using the Plasma Beam and Morph Ball Bombs to hit the Sheegoth’s stomach works just fine if not just a bit slower.
